Historical Sample of Europe

Micro-data on historical individuals and households are essential for research into social, economic and demographic developments.

This hub will bring together and make accessible micro data on demography and social mobility based on samples from the (mainly) nineteenth and twentieth century population of a large number of European countries (among others Sweden, Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Switzerland). Groups of scholars have already created large regional or national datasets of population micro-data and the plan is to organize and structure all these micro-data and to disseminate them for Europe-wide research in a systematic and integrated way.
