Short biography
Kees Mandemakers (linked to hub 8 HSE) taught historical informatics and statistics at various universities in the Netherlands (1989-2000) and acquired his PhD in Rotterdam (1996). In 1991 he started the Historical Sample of the Netherlands at the IISH and since 2000 he has worked there full time. He presently is senior research fellow at the IISH, heading the HSN and advising in the field of information analysis. He also is vice president of the International Commission of Historical Demography. Main research interests: methodology of large historical databases, social stratification and mobility, social history.
