Short biography
Sören Edvinsson (lead hub 8) took his PhD in history at Umeå University in 1992. His main source material for the dissertation was the digitised parish records of Sundsvall available at the DDB. In that way he became well acquainted with their historical population data. The topic of his dissertation was social differences in mortality and Swedish urban mortality. From 1992 Edvinsson has been a researcher at DDB. In this position he has been involved in serving researchers with DDB data and with development of the population database. From 2005 he is half time connected to CPS. His main research interests are population history, medical history and methodology of large historical databases.
